She began her career journey in the film industry and transitioned to 3D Animation. Ria has expereince in a educational evironment as she run a 3D Animation school which focussed on training for the animation and game industry for several years.
At Lost Boys she has multiple roles:
Senior Educational administrator – Oversee school operations, program delivery and curriculum development.
Student Services Administrator- Attend to student needs, which may include everything from admissions to assistance with job placement.
Production Designer – Develop the design of the project with the DOP. Often directing or assisting in directing with the DOP or applying SFX make-up to add to the quality level of the back ground plates.
Ria and Mark also spend time developing the the school and designing projects to ensure that Lost Boys is providing the best VFX education possible.

Ria studied 3D Animation and was the previous Co-Owner, Administrator and part-time Animation Instructor of a digital animation school for 4 years. This included teaching motion studies, acting for animators and animation basics , introduction to Camera and lighting in 3D,curriculum design and development.
It also included developing administration systems and procedures and reporting to PPSEC (prior to PCTIA) and Student Aid.
Her past experience also includes film and theatre and she has worked on-set in various positions from Camera Assistant, 1st and 2nd AD and as a Special Effects Make-up and Prosthetic Artist, which she continues to do with student projects.
Her years of experience in the film industry, education field and administration combined, give her a qualified view on project aesthetics and production needs.
Professional Memberships & Industry Involvement
- Ria is currently the secretary of the local Visual Effects Society and a education committee member. She has been very evolved as a board member and has organized the Celebration of Animation and Visual Effects for 2013 and has assisted in past years celebrations. This year due to the Chair being away ill she was the voice of the VES Vancouver section at the last AGM meeting.
As an education committee member she arranges Artist Spotlight and workshops for the education chair and assist with the Career fairs and the job board.
- Ria is a member of the the Screen-Based Media Industry-Education Advisory Committee and is actively speaking for the smaller focused private schools.
