Introducing 6-Month Certificate Programs - Now Open for Registration

Announcing Campus VFX latest programs recently approved by the BC Education Ministry

With education needing to adapt to economics and lifestyles of the rising generation, Campus VFX has expanded its programs. We now offer 6-month certificates. This includes the Compositing et FX Technical Director disciplines, in addition to our current 4-month Éclairage numérique certificate.

Campus VFX was one of the first schools in Canada to offer focused programs that train students using studio pipeline workflows. This innovative and precise curriculum is how we train award-winning artists.

The 12-month diploma option has created restrictions for international students, as fewer permits are accessible in accordance with government policies. With that in mind, Campus VFX created their new 6-month certificate programs – students face fewer barriers when accessing the industry-focused curriculum and training.

What this means for the Canadian and Permanent Residents.

The new certificate programs are officially recognized by the ministry, making them eligible for student loan funding.

Canadian educational programs and schools must be recognized by the Canadian government and listed as a Designated Learning Institution to be eligible for Student Aid. Canadian and Permanent Residents can access student loans aligned with shorter program lengths that meet the criteria while avoiding upfront higher costs for longer programs and to better suit individual financial circumstances.

What this means for International Students.

International applicants do not require a study permit for programs with a length of six months or less. Keeping in mind that international applicants must still be eligible to enter Canada (e.g., with a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), a Working Holiday visa, or another appropriate authorization). Requirements vary by country of citizenship and individual circumstances.

Because of the 6-month cap, international applicants can attend based on a tourist visa and be eligible to attend school without requiring a study permit.

"The changes to international student visas were a challenge at first, but in a creative and evolving industry, you need to learn to adapt, problem-solve, and find a way forward. Expanding into shorter programs and online diplomas became the natural next step for us. In fact, it has made our programs more accessible to students who may have never been able to attend."

In both cases, eligible students may earn a 6-month certificate with the option of continuing with a second remote course to earn their full, 12-month diploma.

With the introduction of this 6-month certificate, all students face fewer barriers when accessing the industry-focused curriculum and training.
